| Nestled
comfortably at Sedona's Hwy. 179 and the bridge,
in the Garland building, sits one of the oldest
galleries in Sedona.
In
1979, Windrush Gallery opened its doors and is still in
its original location. Opened as a quaint little gallery
of 600 square feet in 1979, Windrush now boasts 1,800
square feet of gallery space, where around every corner,
one finds beautiful works of art.
The
gallery offers an eclectic selection of original
Southwestern art in oils, acrylics and watercolors as well as
sculpture of alabaster, wood and bronze. Windrush also
represents the best international publishers of limited
edition prints by well known and respected artists.
"Windrush
Art Gallery got into the print business in 1985 and, for a
number of years, we were the only gallery in town offering limited
edition prints," Ted said. "This gives many
people who want and appreciate fine art an option to own
a truly remarkable piece by a well-known artist at a
more affordable price," he added.
"When
people come to Windrush Gallery they are not
intimidated, they are very comfortable. We try to make
it easy for our guests to understand and buy the art we display."
That is why Windrush has so many repeat customers. |
"We
will ship anything to anyone on approval, because we
know art is a major investment and we want each customer
to be completely happy with what they have
purchased," said Ted.
So,
what is ahead for Windrush Gallery?
"I
would like to continue our tradition of showing a wide
variety of affordable art for every taste. We want our art to
reflect the flavor of Sedona and the Southwest, which
the visitors have come to see," said Ted.
"We
also want to have Sedonians feel that Windrush is as
interested in the locals who live and work here as we
are in the tourist trade that represents the majority of
the gallery sales," he added.
Ted
promised to continue to offer high quality oils,
watercolors and sculpture and strive to keep the
Windrush Art Gallery image of being a "highly thought-of"
gallery.
