Kathy Watson
Hozhoni Art

Hozhoni: A Navajo word meaning “oneness with the universe...
right feeling and right thinking in the world.”

When you experience a painting by Kathy Watson and understand the true meaning of the word "Hozhoni," you instantly know both the art and the artist.

Like the Navajo sandpaintings that inspire her, each of Watson's works portray a message of goodwill. All of her paintings also contain a dotted sun, symbolizing "only good things in life, optimism, high power, and a go-for-it perspective in living."

Watson's personal "Hozhoni" attitude is surely a significant contributing factor to the power of her art. She states: "I can express this unique feeling of individual spirit and joy through my art and come alive when I paint."

Aside from the spiritual link she has with her work, the commercial success of Kathy Watson's Hozhoni Art is grounded in her thematic and technical forms. The easily recognizable Native American symbolism intertwines with a relatively loose drawing style, successfully integrating one of the most appealing aspects of Impressionism.
