Mary Blain was raised on a ranch near Bridger, Montana. Her outdoor lifestyle has given her a great enthusiasm for painting the wondrous expanse of nature and wildlife in the mountains of southern Montana.
Her medium of choice is watercolor because it is spontaneous, dries quickly and is portable. She is a strong advocate of painting plein air because she believes perspective can be judged better and the feel of the landscape and the light can be experienced fully.
