"Influenced by the three R’s – Remington, Russell and
Reynolds – and dedicated to my Arizona heritage, I enjoy portraying
the Old West, particularly man and horse," says Frederick Hambly.
Hambly’s
ancestors owned a cattle ranch, participated in politics, drove
stagecoaches and prospected for gold. This sparked Hambly’s interest
in the southwest. However, visits to exhibitions of western art
influenced him to leave his 20-year career as a teacher and devote his
full energies to portraying the Old West. He prides himself on the
accuracy of his depictions having spent hours on research at the
Arizona Historical society.
Hambly has
participated in juried shows throughout the United States including
the Mountain Oyster Club’s Western Art Show in Tucson. His alma
mater, the University of Arizona, featured his work in a one-man show.
The oils of
Frederick Hambly make the West live again for many who own his work in
collections from New York to California. His sales and commissions
evidence his continued success.
