I grew up in Smyrna, GA and still live in beautiful North Georgia. Imagine flowing creeks, tall trees, sunlit rocks, rolling hills, apple orchards and the summer scent of fresh bailed hay. This has been the inspiration for the beginning of my journey and has led me across the country to the Western landscape, to Europe and the Caribbean and Jamaica. My paintings are produced in the studio and outdoors (called plein air) with pastel, oil or acrylic. My plein air work is about the journey of learning to observe correctly, which teaches me colors, the atmosphere and the light. My studio work then, is not limited by a photographic image.

The inspiration for my art comes from a love of nature and outdoor activity. Many of the paintings include scenes from the Toccoa River and the Blue Ridge Mountains, although I do include scenes from other places I have visited. I believe that many of my paintings convey the wonderful experience of living in Georgia and the Southeastern United States.

Many of the paintings are combined with old or antique frames to create a complete artistic statement. Presently, I produce original paintings in pastel, my favorite medium, but also works in oil and acrylic. I am in the process of changing the format of my classes in my locale, so see the "class" page for more information. I have several workshops, both studio and plein air, planned for the Southeast. (Be sure to check the "workshop" page for these.) I also demonstrate and give programs at arts organizations and my galleries (look for dates of those on the "events" page).

I am a Member of Excellence in the Southeastern Pastel Society, a Merit member of the Atlanta Artist Center, and the Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Association / Southern Appalachian Artist Guild. My paintings have been accepted into many shows and have won numerous awards. I am presently represented by: High Country Art & Antiques in Blue Ridge, GA and have a couple more on the horizon.
