Laura
is best known for her embossed intaglio etchings, paintings and more
recently assembled works constructed with layered papers often
incorporating hand-beading and modeled clay bas-relief. Her study of
Native American history and mythology lends authenticity to her works
while a counterpoint of mystery and playfulness set them apart from
the more traditional Western genre. Her individualistic style is
appreciated by private and corporate patrons throughout the United
States as well as numerous foreign countries.
Laura states, "pursuit of a career in the arts is a continual
exploration of reality as well as the more ephemeral spheres of mind
and spirit. It is a constant challenge to communicate the
discovery".
A native of Texas, Laura has lived in the Northwest the past
thirty-five years. Her formal training began at age seven at the
Catherine Lord Studio in Evanston, IL. She attended Redlands
University in California and received her Fine Arts degree (magna cum
laude) in design and painting from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY.
She is listed in Samuel’s Pictorial volume, Contemporary Western
Artists and Who’s Who in American Art.
