In 1987, Geri moved to Phoenix, and being single, had to get a “real” job at Exxon Mobil where she worked for 15 years fulfilling the requirements
for retirement. Instead of getting back to her painting after retirement, Geri discovered gourd art, and became totally addicted to it. “There are so many tools, techniques and mediums to be used with
gourd art, it presents exciting challenges.”
Geri has already been published in two art books, “Gourd
Art”
and “Gourd
Dolls and Spiritual Figures.”
Gourd art has given Geri a whole new way of expressing herself through the design, carving and painting of the gourds.
