Mike Toledo is a young Navajo sculptor from Kirtland, New Mexico. He has established himself as a sensitive portrayer of Native American themes in alabaster.
He was born in Shiprock, New Mexico in 1966. After having studied art all through high school, Mike taught art at a community school on the reservation. He placed the most emphasis on Navajo and wildlife clay sculpting.
Mike started his fine art career soon after being introduced to alabaster carving. By utilizing different shapes and colors of alabaster, Mike has developed his own unique style which gives his figures a life of their own Each piece is exquisitely designed, detailed and completely hand finished.
